One of the best ways to boost your fundraising is by creatively utilizing your social media platforms. We’ve gathered a few tips to help you maximize your social media efforts.

Inspire people with your story

Post statuses about why you’re running, why it’s important to you, and how you’re helping I Am Second. Inspire your friends by updating them on your training leading up to the race and how they can help. Don’t forget to put a link to your personal or team fundraising page in each status. If you are blogging your way to success, be sure to post the link to each blog post on your social media accounts.

Use our logo

I Am Second has plenty of material you can use for your profile picture, cover photo, or avatar.

Say thank you and grab sponsors at the same time

When somebody donates to you or your team, publicly thank by writing on their Facebook wall or Tweeting at them. This not only lets your sponsors know how much you appreciate their donation, but it can also inspire others to donate!

Promote your events

Create an event for your fundraiser on Facebook and invite all of your friends to attend. You want to make sure the event is “open” to all invites so the public can see it and your friends can invite other people. This is also a great way to invite your friends to any fundraising events you may host before the race.

Create a Team Fan Page

If you’re a part of a team, create a fanpage for your friends and family to keep track of all team members. Let your fans know about training and fundraising progress and inspire them to join your team! You should upload photos, video blogs, and links to inspirational blogs or articles. Be sure to publicize individual or team fundraising events.

Retweet

On Twitter, follow I Am Second and inspirational running accounts. You can retweet the tweets that you like and add your own message asking your followers to donate to your fundraising web page.

Make YouTube Videos

Vlogging (video blogging) is a creative way to get the word out about your fundraiser. Make a video talking about your goals and inspiration, then upload it to YouTube. You can post the link on social media or embed it on your fundraising website.
